Old Testament Revision Company

A committee established by the Convocation of Canterbury in 1870 to revise the Old Testament of the King James Bible. It formed one of two revision companies, alongside the New Testament Revision Company, charged with improving the accuracy and faithfulness of the English text to the original Hebrew and Greek. The work formed part of the wider nineteenth-century revision that produced the Revised Version of the Bible, published in stages from 1881 to 1895.
