Reform Act
editUsually the Reform Act 1832, which redistributed parliamentary seats, abolished many rotten boroughs, and extended voting rights, chiefly to middle-class men. It improved representation of industrial towns but excluded most working men and explicitly restricted parliamentary voting to males. Further Reform Acts in 1867 and 1884 enlarged the electorate, although universal adult suffrage was not achieved until 1928.
