Newcastle Scholarship

An annual academic prize at Eton College, founded in 1829 by Club Member Henry Pelham Fiennes Pelham-Clinton, 4th Duke of Newcastle. Originally awarded for Classics and divinity, it became Eton’s leading academic prize. The original award was £50 a year for three years, with a medal for the runner-up. In 1976 it was divided into separate Classics and Divinity prizes.
