Nobody’s Friends

A private Anglican dining club founded in London in 1800 in honour of William Stevens, a High Church churchman and philanthropist whose pseudonym “Nobody” gave the Club its name. Closely associated with the circle later known as the Hackney Phalanx, it traditionally comprised roughly equal numbers of clergy and laymen. Members included bishops, deans, peers, politicians, and judges. The Club continues today.
