ad eundem

Latin, meaning “to the same [degree or status]”. Used principally in universities to describe admission to a degree, membership, or academic status by virtue of having already obtained equivalent standing elsewhere, rather than through the institution’s normal course of study. In British universities, an ad eundem degree could be conferred on a graduate of another university, particularly in recognition of academic distinction. The expression is still used, although such arrangements are now uncommon.
