Founder’s Kin Fellow

At New College, Oxford, a Fellow claiming preferential election through kinship with the founder, William of Wykeham. His statutes gave his relatives preference among eligible scholars, and candidates had to establish their descent. The privilege survived into the nineteenth century but was removed during the reforms of Oxford colleges following the Oxford University Act 1854.
