United Services Club

By John Simpson •

A London military club founded in 1815 for senior officers of the British Army and Royal Navy, including veterans of the Napoleonic Wars. Known as “the Senior”, it became one of London’s most prestigious service clubs. Its Pall Mall clubhouse, designed by John Nash and opened in 1828, was later remodelled and extended. The Club admitted junior officers from 1892 and eventually merged with the Junior United Services Club. It closed in 1978.
