Factory Acts
editA series of British laws, chiefly from the Factory Act 1833 onwards, regulating working conditions in factories. They progressively restricted the employment of children and young people, limited working hours, and introduced factory inspection and other safeguards. Further Acts during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries extended these protections, forming the basis of modern legislation on workplace health, safety, and conditions.
