Conservative Club

By John Simpson •

A club for supporters of the Conservative Party; in Britain, the term may refer to local or regional clubs combining political and social activities. The Conservative Club in London, founded in 1840, was a prominent Conservative-aligned gentlemen’s club, originally providing an alternative for Tory dissidents from the Carlton Club. It merged with the Bath Club in 1950 and was finally disbanded in 1981.
