Footpath Preservation Society

edit

By John Simpson •

A society formed to protect public footpaths and rights of way against obstruction, closure, and encroachment. The National Footpaths Preservation Society campaigned for public access and merged with the Commons Preservation Society in 1899 to form the Commons and Footpaths Preservation Society. Its successor, the Open Spaces Society, continues to defend public paths, commons, and other open spaces.
