Royal Literary Fund

edit

By John Simpson •

A British charity founded in 1790 by the Reverend David Williams to provide financial assistance to authors in hardship and their dependants. Originally called the Literary Fund, it received royal patronage and became the Royal Literary Fund in 1842. It continues to support writers through grants and other programmes, including placing professional writers in universities to help students develop their writing.
