By John Simpson •

A London medical society founded in 1819 by practitioners from the City and eastern London and named after John Hunter, the eighteenth-century surgeon and anatomist. Long associated with Finsbury, it promoted medical and scientific knowledge through meetings and papers. It remains active at Lettsom House, 11 Chandos Street, holding lectures, meetings, and awards.
