Old Testament Revision Company

A committee established in 1870 to revise the Old Testament of the King James Bible, working alongside the New Testament Revision Company. Its scholars sought greater accuracy in translating the original Hebrew and Aramaic texts. Their work produced the Old Testament of the Revised Version, published in 1885, following the New Testament in 1881. The revised Apocrypha appeared in 1895.
