Incorporated Law Society

The professional body for solicitors in England and Wales, founded in 1825 as the Law Institution. It received Royal Charters in 1831 and 1845 and established its headquarters in Chancery Lane in 1832. It represented and regulated solicitors, overseeing education, examinations, and professional conduct. Officially renamed the Law Society in 1903, it continues today.
