Barrington lecturer

The lecturer appointed to deliver the Barrington Lectures, established through an endowment by Dublin businessman John Barrington in 1834. Their purpose was to explain the principles of political economy to working people in Ireland. The lectures reflected the nineteenth-century interest in providing practical and educational instruction to the working classes, particularly on economic and social questions.
