Brooks’s Club

A London gentlemen’s club founded in 1764, associated particularly with Whig aristocrats and politicians and, later, the Liberal establishment. Its membership also included prominent writers and social figures. Since 1778, Brooks’s has occupied 60 St James’s Street. Once one of London’s principal political clubs, it remains there today, although its specifically Whig and Liberal character has diminished.
