Burlington Fine Arts Club

edit

By John Simpson •

A London gentlemen’s club founded in 1866 for amateurs, collectors, and others interested in the fine arts. Unusually, it combined the functions of a social club with the organisation of exhibitions of members’ collections, many accompanied by published catalogues. It moved from 177 Piccadilly to 17 Savile Row in 1870, where it remained until its dissolution in 1952.
