Barristers’ offices or the collective organisation in which a group of barristers practise. A barrister remains self-employed, but members of a set of chambers share administrative costs and services, usually managed by clerks under the direction of a Head of Chambers. The system developed in its modern form during the nineteenth century, when barristers increasingly worked from organised chambers rather than individually from private offices.
