CMG

edit

By John Simpson •

Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, a British order of chivalry founded in 1818. Originally associated with the Ionian Islands and Malta, it later became chiefly associated with diplomatic service and work overseas. CMG is the order’s third rank, below KCMG and GCMG. Recipients may use the post-nominal letters CMG but are not entitled to a knighthood.
