Court of Faculties

A tribunal of the Archbishop of Canterbury responsible for certain ecclesiastical licences, dispensations, and faculties. Its functions include matters such as special marriage licences, the appointment of notaries public, and the granting of Lambeth degrees. During the nineteenth century, it formed part of the surviving ecclesiastical legal system administered by the archbishops and the Church of England.
