East India United Service Club
editA London gentlemen’s club founded about 1848 for men connected with the services administering British India, including East India Company and British Army and Navy officers, and Indian civil, medical, and legal officials. Its purpose-built clubhouse in St James’s Square opened in 1866, occupying Nos 14 and 15. It became an important Anglo-Indian club and remains, after subsequent mergers, the East India Club.
