Electoral Reform Society

By John Simpson •

A British organisation founded in 1884 as the Proportional Representation Society to campaign for electoral reform, particularly proportional representation. Established by a group led by Sir John Lubbock, it attracted support from politicians of different parties and promoted the single transferable vote. Renamed the Electoral Reform Society in 1959, it continues to campaign for changes to electoral systems and democratic institutions.
