edit

By John Simpson •

Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a professional qualification and post-nominal designation for surgeons in Britain and Ireland. Historically, fellowship was obtained by examination or, in some cases, election. Today, FRCS is normally awarded after passing a specialist intercollegiate examination. The initials may refer to fellowship of the surgical colleges of England, Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Ireland.
