FRS

Fellow of the Royal Society, Britain’s principal learned society for science. The Royal Society was founded in London in 1660 and received its royal charter in 1662. Election as an FRS was one of the most prestigious scientific distinctions in nineteenth-century Britain, recognising significant contributions to scientific knowledge.
