Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s national academy, founded by Royal Charter in 1783 for the advancement of learning and useful knowledge. Fellows are elected for distinction in fields including science, the arts, humanities, business, and public service. They may use the post-nominal letters FRSE. The Society continues to elect new Fellows annually.
