Geological Survey of Ireland

edit

By John Simpson •

Ireland’s national geological survey, established in 1845 as part of the Geological Survey of Great Britain and Ireland. It mapped Ireland’s geology and mineral resources for mining, engineering, and scientific research. In 1905 it became a separate Irish government organisation and has continued, under successive administrations, as Ireland’s national geological survey.
