Junior Carlton Club

edit

By John Simpson •

A London gentlemen’s club founded in 1864 for Conservative supporters as a less exclusive counterpart to the Carlton Club. It became one of London’s largest political clubs. From 1869 it occupied a purpose-built clubhouse at 30 Pall Mall, designed by David Brandon. Declining membership eventually led to its closure in 1977, when its remaining members merged with the Carlton Club.
