Keeper of the Oppidan Wall

At Eton College, the captain of the Oppidan team in the Eton Wall Game. The Keeper leads and organises the team, whose players are drawn from the Oppidans, boys living in boarding houses rather than College. A longstanding position, it was a recognised sporting distinction in nineteenth-century Eton and remains in use today.
