Lumleian lectures

Annual lectures delivered by the Royal College of Physicians of London, established in 1582 through the endowment of Richard Caldwell in honour of John, Lord Lumley. Originally concerned with anatomy and surgery, the lectures later focused on general medicine. By the nineteenth century, the Lumleian Lecture had become one of the College’s important occasions for presenting developments in medical knowledge.
