Mark Degree

edit

By John Simpson •

A Masonic degree based on the marks traditionally used by operative stonemasons to identify their work. In England and Wales, it is administered separately from Craft Freemasonry by the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, founded in 1856. In Scotland, it may be conferred in a Craft Lodge or through a Royal Arch Chapter and is required before admission to the Royal Arch.
