Mathematical tripos

At Cambridge, the course of study and associated examinations in Mathematics, traditionally the principal route to an honours degree in the subject. The Tripos developed from Cambridge’s mathematical examinations and was formally established in the eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century it became famous for its demanding examinations and ranking of candidates, and it remains a current Cambridge Tripos, though its structure and content have changed.
