Medical and Chirurgical Society

A London medical society founded in 1805 to bring physicians and surgeons together for the exchange of knowledge. Granted a Royal Charter in 1834, it became the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society. In 1907 it joined with several specialist societies to form the Royal Society of Medicine, which continues to promote medical education and the exchange of healthcare knowledge.
