National Union Club

edit

By John Simpson •

A short-lived London political club founded in 1887 and associated with the Liberal Unionists, who had broken with the Liberal Party over Irish Home Rule. It sought to bring together those supporting the maintenance of the union of the United Kingdom and the British Empire. The club was disbanded in the 1890s and should be distinguished from the earlier Union Club and the Unionist Club.
