Numismatical Society

A British learned society founded in 1836 to promote the study of coins, medals, and monetary history. It has published The Numismatic Chronicle from 1838 and attracted an international membership of collectors and scholars. Granted a Royal Charter in 1904, it became the Royal Numismatic Society, and continues to promote numismatic research.
