Royal Society of Arts

The familiar name of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, founded by William Shipley in 1754 to encourage useful inventions and improvements. It received a Royal Charter in 1847 and permission to use “Royal” in 1908. Commonly known as the RSA, it remains a charitable organisation promoting innovation, education, design, and social progress.
