Royal Society of Canada

Canada’s national academy of arts, humanities, and sciences, founded in 1882 under the patronage of the Marquess of Lorne, Governor General, and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1883. Modelled partly on the Royal Society of London, it brought together distinguished Canadian scholars and scientists. It continues to elect Fellows for outstanding achievement and to promote research and knowledge in Canada.
