Royal Society of Medicine

A medical society founded in 1805 as the Medical and Chirurgical Society of London, bringing physicians and surgeons together to exchange knowledge. Chartered in 1834, it became the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society. In 1907 it amalgamated with numerous specialist societies to form the Royal Society of Medicine, which continues as a multidisciplinary organisation promoting medical education and knowledge.
