Royal Society of Northern Antiquities

A learned society founded in Copenhagen in 1825 to promote study of Nordic antiquities, history, languages, and culture. Particularly concerned with Old Norse and Icelandic literature and Scandinavian archaeology, it collected, translated, and published important texts and research. Its internationally circulated publications helped stimulate scholarly interest in Northern antiquities and contributed to the development of Scandinavian archaeological studies.
