Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers

An artists’ society founded in 1880 by Sir Francis Seymour Haden and others to promote original etching and engraving as creative arts. It became the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers in 1888, added “Engravers” in 1898, and was incorporated in 1911. Since 1991 it has been the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. Members use RE.
