Tomline Prize

Eton College’s principal mathematics prize, established through George Tomline’s benefaction and first awarded in 1837. Open to the whole school, it was awarded to the boy performing best in the Tomline mathematical examination. The winner, known as the Tomline Prizeman, originally received books worth £30. The prize has continued, with interruptions, into the twenty-first century.
