Truck Act
editOne of several British statutes intended to prevent employers paying workers in goods, tokens, or credit rather than money, a practice known as the truck system. The Truck Act 1831 required wages in specified trades to be paid in current coin and restricted deductions and payments through company shops. Later Truck Acts extended these protections, before their eventual replacement by modern employment legislation.
