By John Simpson •

A London gentlemen’s club founded in 1821 for members and graduates of Oxford and Cambridge, initially limited to 500 from each university. Its clubhouse at 1 Suffolk Street, designed by William Wilkins and J. P. Gandy, opened in 1826. The Club closed in 1971 and amalgamated with the Oxford and Cambridge Club in 1972, forming the United Oxford and Cambridge University Club.
